The Ferry Inn is an ancient, Seventeenth Century pub and restaurant that was the home of the ferry between the Isle-of-Oxney and the English mainland at Appledore. It is situated in the midst of beautiful countryside between Tenterden, Appledore, Stone-in-Oxney and Wittersham and adjoins the historic Saxon Shore Way. It is also only 6 miles away from Rye and Camber Sands.
The Head Chef at the Ferry is Dominic Knight, formerly of the Savoy in London and locally at the Bull at Linton, near Maidstone. He is supported by Laura Sansom, Second Chef, who has been in the catering trade for over 15 years. Dominic and Laura update the seasonal menu regularly and the Specials menu is changed weekly, if not daily. Our emphasis is on the best locally sourced meat, fish and game and all food is prepared to order. Fresh fish from the daily catch from Rye, Hastings and Folkestone is featured on the menu whenever possible.
The Ferry Inn, also known as the Oxney Ferry, enjoys late sun and beautiful views all year round from the pub's front terrace and riverside garden. It offers an extensive selection of award winning ales and fine wines in both its restaurant and bar areas. The Ferry Restaurant offers locally sourced, freshly prepared and cooked food in a beautiful countryside surrounding. A selection of freshly caught fish is available year round, and specials in the winter months include a selection of locally sourced game.
